Ronchey, S. “Sulla datazione dell'Exegesis in canonem iambicum di Eustazio di Tessalonica.” Athenaeum 74 (1986): 103-10.
1986
This study clarifies the question of the dating of Eustathius of Thessalonica’s Exegesis in canonem iambicum by means of a brief overview of important elements. Analysis of the traditional titles and certain facts of chronology in the text make it possible to that the Exegesis was composed in Thessalonica rather than Constantinople. Since its composition could not predate Pentecost of 1186, its popularisation could have occurred in 1187 or during one of the later celebrations of Pentecost preceding the author’s death in 1196.
